WOW! this summer has flown by!

I have been so busy with the pony making buisness i have no idea where summer went. I can't believe it is almost September already!  I homeschool my oldest son and I am trying to squish in time to plan the first semester.  He is only in 1st so it isn't too overwhelming but it needs to get done.  I have really enjoyed this wild ride the pony buisness has taken me on.  I love making them and seeing them come to life.  Each one is so diffrent and has character.  I also love the interaction with all the great customers :)  September is right around the corner so I plan on contacting all my September customs by sending out emails today to get their plan for a dream pony.  My customs are full for Sept and I have been very careful not to take on too much.  I will be working on customs and still be able to have a few ponies for sale each week.  I will have a few more spots to offer for October and November and will probably also take a few for the beginning of December so they will be ready for Christmas. These custom slots will be offered on my etsy site and will most likely be a surprise since that is so much fun :) I am so greatful for all the support and encouragement I have gotten from all the pony fans and I hope to continue making these magical ponies for all the pony crazy girls out there :)

Busy day

So I finally finished my first official re worked pattern pony.  I have re done this pattern so many times I'm not even sure what I started with.  It turned out very cute and I took some pictures of Bambo Mia riding it.  I am still not sure if I like the eye placing and may re do them.  I am planning on cutting more fabric tomorrow and sewing up some more.  i need to order more wool and I am looking forward to getting some new colors of fabric this week. I am also anxious to start making a pattern for a horse blanket.  I would like all my ponies to go home with a cute horse blanket.  I found some really great fabrics and can't wait to work some of those up :)  I have so many great ideas and not enough time in the day to get to it all when there are 3 children needing my time too.  I am really excited by the responses I had today when i posted some pics to Facebook.  I can't wait to make more and show people all the wonderful ideas in my head :)

A work in progress

I have always been a horse lover.  It started early at about 4 or 5.  I had lots of my little ponies and then started collecting Breyers.  I have ridden all my life and now with kids don't really have the time.  I hope someday to go back and I'm sure I will.  There is just something so magical about a horse.  The journey I have begun with Jellybean Ponies is a creative outlet for me but also fulfills my need to have horses around.  This idea started with my obsession with Bamboletta a waldorf doll maker in Canada.  I love her dolls and was finally lucky enough to get one in a upload.  As soon as Mia arrived at our house my first thought was she needs a horse, unicorn or a pegasus.  For some reason little girls, dolls and horses go hand in hand for me.  I googled waldorf horse since I prefer the natural materials used and the attention to detail that the dolls are made.  Nothing!  All I could find was some felt stitched horses that were too small to really play with the dolls.  I am a crafty person and love to sew so I decided I would make a horse for Mia.  I made a pattern and have been playing around with it until I am happy.  I shopped etsy for hand spun and hand dyed yarn.  It is more expensive but if this is going to be the creative outlet and the high quality I want, then I am sparing no expense.  I also decide I wanted this horse to have the same sturdyness that the stuffed waldorf dolls have so I learned how to make the heads of the waldorf dolls and then adjusted it to make the horses head.  The body is stuffed with clean and carded wool and I chose to do the skin in cotton interlock, the same material the doll malkers use.  The eyes are hand stitiched and the hooves are done in black wool felt.  I am very happy with the way the horse is turning out and have decided to make more and add unicorns and pegasus to the herd.  I am thoroughly enjoying this process and have so many great ideas for new ponies I can present each week.  The plan is to do a theme each week and also offer a few custom spots. Just letting the creative juices flow :)
